LiCe in 2020⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 09/03/2020 - 23:23
Well, it’s safe to say that in 2020, IRC itself is almost dead, let alone a script for a console based IRC client that very few (Though epic has a small and loyal following) people use. And there’s even less demand for a script pack for it! But rest assured that #LiCe in EFNet goes on, even though the numbers are down to, at today’s count, 6 people and 1 bot.
There’s obviously not a lot of updates to LiCe either - if you do want to get the latest version I suggest you check it out from git rather than download a package from here.
PushIt v2.4 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Tue, 11/29/2016 - 19:58

PushIt now supports:
Pushover
PushBullet
Join by joaoapps
Another push service you’d like it to support? Let me know!
LiCe 5.3.0 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 05/13/2016 - 06:19
After nearly a year, LiCe 5.3.0 has been released. Nothing major in this release, just lots and lots of little bug fixes and tiny additions here and there.
I consider this release very polished, but as always if you find any bugs let us know in #LiCe
Congratulations on the EPIC Project for the release of EPIC5-2.0. Be sure to use it with this version of LiCe.
Enjoy

Happy New Year 2016⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 01/07/2016 - 19:02

We’ll get at least 1 LiCe release out this year, fear not…

PushIt v2.1⌗
Submitted by tjh on Mon, 08/24/2015 - 21:35
The pushover script has been renamed to PushIt.irc and is currently at version 2.1.
The big news of this version is that now PushBullet.com is also supported. PushBullet is a free Push Service with both Android and iOS clients, as well as desktop and browser clients.
It also completes the security tightening, ensuring that all text is properly escaped before being handed to curl for processing.
Pushover 1.5⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 08/20/2015 - 11:59
Pushover 1.5 has been released.
THIS FIXES A SECURITY ISSUE WITH THE SCRIPT
Please update as soon as possible!
It also adds the following:
Ability to ignore certain channels
Ability to ignore certain nicks
Ability to set custom sounds for messages/publics/notifies.
You’ll need to re-set your sound settings when you upgrade to this version.

EPIC5-1.2 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Mon, 08/10/2015 - 06:13
hop has been hard at work and EPIC5-1.2 is the result of that!
Recommended for all LiCe users, and all EPIC5 users in general.
Go forth and download now!
LiCE 5.2.7 Re-Packed⌗
Submitted by tjh on Mon, 07/27/2015 - 00:35
Due to a rather dumb packing issue with 5.2.7, I have re-packed LiCe.
If you had issues reading the help files due to the fact they were left +x, you can either remove the +x from all the help files, or just remove your existing lice5 directory and re-download again.
The archive and the signature file have both been updated.

LiCe 5.2.7 (and EPIC5-1.1.11)⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 07/15/2015 - 05:47
LiCe 5.2.7 has been released! Get it here!
A lot of fixes went into this release, thanks z2e for your report and a huge thanks as always to whitefang for your patches, assistance and ideas.
This version recommends EPIC5-1.1.11. If you use a lower version you’ll get a message telling you this. You might also encounter a few small bugs! Please use at least EPIC5-1.1.11 for the best experience.
Pushover 1.4⌗
Submitted by tjh on Tue, 06/30/2015 - 03:13
Pushover v1.4 has been released.
This is a very minor release, all it does is fix the push message you receive when the message/notification contains control characters. Pushover now strips them all out, so you only end up with ASCII text.
Pushover 1.3⌗
Submitted by tjh on Mon, 06/30/2014 - 02:37
Pushover 1.3 addon has been released.
This is a simple change - it adds support for NOTIFY Signon push messages.
Note: 1.4 has been released. Get it instead.

LiCe 5.2.6 Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 04/11/2014 - 00:02
LiCe 5.2.6 has been released.
This is a very small bugfix release, but you must download it if you are using EPIC5-1.1.8 or later. If you use older versions of LiCe with EPIC5-1.1.8 or later, you will get flooded off servers (and annoy your local IRCOP). This is due to the way the LAG indicator worked.
Please update and enjoy!

LiCe Addon Supports Pushover.net⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 04/09/2014 - 02:58
I’ve just finished writing a little addon for LiCe v5.2.x that supports the wonderful Pushover.Net service.
This means you can get notifications to your device when you get a Private Message or someone says something matching your Auto-Reply (/AR) buffer. Handy for when you’re not looking at your IRC Session but don’t want to miss a message or mention.
Moved to Github⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 02/19/2014 - 04:18
Whitefang and I are in the process of moving to Github. Yes, it’s trendy and cool, but Googlecode now doesn’t let you host downloads anymore!
There’s even a few new commits, nothing major, but LiCe is still alive and kicking.

LiCe 5.2.5 Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 04/03/2013 - 06:14
LiCe 5.2.5 has been released.
A big special thanks to whitefang who has spent a lot of time working on LiCe over the last month, ironing out a lot of little bugs that have been hanging around and working to return LiCe5 to it’s original srfrog roots.
The filename has also been changed to mirror the format srfrog used to release them in.

LiCe 5.2.4 has been released.
This fixes a few small bugs found by whitefang and Q.
This release also celebrates the release of epic-1.1.4 which I suggest everyone upgrade to, as it has some features and bugfixes that LiCe will be making use of in the next releases!
As always, enjoy and please report any bugs you find.

LiCe 5.2.0 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 04/25/2012 - 06:48
As promised before the end of April, LiCe 5.2.0 has been released.
This release has had a lot of testing so it should be pretty bug free, but please do report any problems.
This is a Major Release so your old settings will NOT be ported over. From the ChangeLog:
Happy New Year 2012⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 01/25/2012 - 04:07
Happy New Year everyone! I’m sorry work on LiCe seems to have gone quiet, I have been adding a few small fixes here and there as time permits. I’m going to get LiCe 5.2.0 final out the door before the end of April though, that’s the goal I’ve set and I full intent to stick to it.
I always welcome feedback, come and harass me on Twitter, @tjh or of course join us in #LiCe in EfNet.

LiCe 5.2.0-beta Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Sun, 03/27/2011 - 10:32
Please visit http://lice.googlecode.com to download.
I will slowly be shutting down this site and moving all content to the Google hosted site. Why? Because this server is run by me and if I dissappear, it’ll mean the LiCe website vanishes again. Google will always be there, the SVN is there and anyone can download it. It’s a better way to develop.
But enough about that! Go download LiCe 5.2.0-beta and please report bugs to the GoogleCode site!

Progress Report⌗
Submitted by tjh on Sun, 03/20/2011 - 21:59
I made some good progress on LiCe over the last week. Big changes:
LiCe now works no matter what directory it’s installed in. Dependencies on .irc are now gone. You can install it globally in /usr/local/scripts/LiCe for example and a single /load /usr/local/scripts/LiCe/lice.irc is all you need. LiCe dynamically figures out where it’s installed on load and will work from there.
LiCe Signing⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 23:51
I have just signed the LiCe 5.1.2 distribution. You can download the public key used for this.
All LiCe releases from now on will be signed. This is to ensure that there’s no nasty people distributing any modified LiCe scripts. LiCe downloaded from this site and signed with this key will never have any backdoors or other nasty things.
Work on LiCe 5.2.0 continues, we’re pretty close now!

Still Developing⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 02/11/2011 - 04:32
Hi,
LiCe 5.2.0 is still in development, I’m sorry it’s taking a little while.
There’s a few things to fix for this release:
- Timestamps are currently broken (probably only in svn)
- Some of the flood protection is a little funky. I am going to audit the code fully and document a little clearer what each option does and doesn’t affected.
Of course there is also the moving of /save to being automatic. This is a hard piece of work, but it’s nearly done.
Thanks for your patience! Any questions, feel free to bug me in #LiCe

Updates - 5.2.0 status⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 20:57
LiCe 5.2.0 is getting close to completion. Almost all settings are saved as soon as you change them now, no need to remember to /save anymore. That said, there’s a few that aren’t, so it’s still quite a work in progress.
If you’d like to help test, please leave a comment below with your contact details or come visit us in #LiCe of EfNet.
Thanks,
tjh
LiCe 5.1.2 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Tue, 07/20/2010 - 20:55
This is just a tiny bugfix release.
If you enable /MTOG E you got an error (and messages weren’t written to disk initially)
This is now fixed. Apologies!
Thoughts on LiCe 5.2.0 - Feedback Please!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Sun, 07/18/2010 - 01:46
I am deep in some coding changes to LiCe that use permanent variable storage. What this means to the end user is no longer will you need to /SAVE. Currently I have it so that any changes to /SENS, /TOG /MTOG /DTOG /WTOG and /CTOG are saved to the new system, which is automatic.
The flipside to this is that no longer can you just edit your save file, because we’re now using the dbmctl system provided by epic5.
LiCe 5.1.1 Released⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 07/16/2010 - 02:13
LiCe 5.1.1 has been released.
This contains only minor bugfixes and enhancements.
It would have been pushed out over /UPDATE but there is currently a few issues with the way DCC_RAW’s are done in epic5, which means long files get line breaks in them in places where you don’t want line breaks! This will hopefully be fixed in an upcoming epic5 release, I’ll notify people when it is and we’ll start using the full power of /UPDATE.
Please read the changelog for more info about this release.
LiCe 5.1.0 Released! /UPDATE works.⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 07/09/2010 - 13:15
This is the first major release since I’ve taken over LiCe.
The big news:
I’ve dropped the “m” from the versions. I’ve spoken to SrfRoG and he’s happy for me to release LiCe with proper version numbers, so I will be from now on.
LiCe 5.0.3m Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 06/23/2010 - 11:03
This is mostly a bugfix release! Also adds the /ET function, which allows you to easily edit the topic on the input line. Usage is just /ET or /ET #channel
Download LiCe5.0.3m.
LiCe 5.0.2m Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Sat, 06/19/2010 - 14:27
Download it here.
The major highlight of this release is that /HELP works once again.
A stable release is close⌗
Submitted by tjh on Fri, 06/11/2010 - 09:37
Work progresses on a stable version of LiCe.
I’ve fixed a few more bugs, including the annoying one where if you were using /WTOG T (show topic at top of screen) and you changed themes, the topic format didn’t change until you did a //topic! This is now fixed.
Also a few people have reported that /HELP doesn’t work and of course they’re right, it doesn’t. I am progressing this at the moment and won’t release a stable version until I have at least a rough help system in place.
LiCe5.0.0m-beta Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 06:54
I have just uploaded LiCe5.0.0m-beta.
Please download it and give it a test, reporting any bugs please.
Also note that epic5-1.1.2 is out and is the recommended version for LiCe5.0.0m-beta. Anything less than this will generate a warning (though it should work fine as long as it’s a fairly recent version)
Enjoy!

EPIC5 v1.1.1⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 03/24/2010 - 20:47
A new version of EPIC5, version 1.1.1 has been released.
Head over to epicsol.org to grab it right now. Don’t come back until you’ve compiled it.
The newer versions of LiCe5 to be released soon will require it.
Also, apologies for the spam. I have tightened up the spam filter. Sorry if it’s a bit harder to post, but it should stop the crap that was getting posted.

Happy New Year!⌗

I’m Back!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 20:38
I’ve just got back from 3 and a half months travelling all around Africa. Once I get settled back in and start working etc, I’ll be working on LiCe again. So stay tuned for more updates and bugfixes.

LiCe-5.0.0r59 released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Sat, 07/04/2009 - 22:13
Nothing major, a few small bugfixes and improvements to WTOG T. Thanks DerFranke for the bug report.
A recommended upgrade though if you’re already using one of the previous LiCe5 releases.
LiCe 5 Inital Test Build Released!⌗
Submitted by tjh on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 13:05
It’s here!
It wouldn’t be here without the help of #epic and especially hop, howl, kreca and skullY.
Download it from the download page. This is an initial test build. It works for me, but it might not work for you. There’s still a lot of work to be done to remove dependencies on old functions, but these are all currently maintained by the use of the epic5 default scripts.
Things that I know are still broken:
* /help doesn’t work.
* /rk (random kick) doesn’t work.
* /wtog T does some strange things at certain times.
LiCe5 Coming Along Well⌗
Submitted by tjh on Tue, 06/02/2009 - 23:53
Work on LiCe5 continues when I can.
I updated all of lice.irc to use the new EPIC5 PF loader today. It’s still working correctly, though I have to thank hop and fudd from #epic for their help with a few things I couldn’t figure out.
I also updated a whole bunch of files in lice/ to work with the new loader.
So we’re getting there! Another week or so and I should have a proper release of LiCe5.

Welcome to the new LiCe Homepage⌗
Submitted by tjh on Tue, 05/26/2009 - 00:01
After many years of LiCe not having a homepage, or much love, I have decided to spend a bit of time to revive this great script. I have been a huge fan of LiCe since I started using it (version 3.x) and want to see it continue to be the best script pack there is. LiCe of course has never gone away, we’re all still there in #LiCe on EFNET. Though the numbers are shrinking a bit these days.
This website is being run using Drupal. It’s probably overkill for what’s needed, but I know it and can use it fairly well, so Drupal it is. It doesn’t get in the way.
